Bumblebees

Have you ever heard that a bumblebee shouldn't be able to fly? Yep, that's what I heard too. It is because of "aerodynamics" or the science that explains why things move through air. Well, it turns out, that it is an urban myth started in the 1930's. No scientist ever said that a bumblebee can't fly! EVERYONE knows that bumblebees CAN fly--we see them all of the time.

Insects, and especially bees, are very important to the plants in the world. They help pollinate (or fertilize) flowers so they can produce seeds. As the bee goes from flower to flower to get the nectar (sweet liquid), the sticky pollen clings to the legs of the bee and a little gets left behind in each flower. So some of the pollen from one flower gets left in another flower thus fertilizing the plant so it can produce seeds.
